Temporary Road Closures and/or Special Events

In accordance with the Council's Road Reserve Policy and Local Laws, changes to normal traffic movements on local roads is required in conjunction with Queensland Police Services. For example:

  • Closing roads for special events such as festivals / fetes / awareness events;
  • Closing full roads or partial for works on roadway (e.g. signs / private infrastructure crossing roadway);
  • Additional risks with pedestrians alongside a roadway for marches / triathlons / vehicle processions;

Fees and Charges

An application fee of $395.80 (GST Exempt) will apply to Temporary Road Closure and/or Special Events applications. This is made up of the following fee adopted in the Register of Cost Recovery Fees 2025/26(PDF, 1MB):

  • Lodgement and Processing (All types of Permits) - Per Application of $73.90 (GST Exempt)
  • Assessment and Permit - Road Events - Per Application of $163.80 (GST Exempt)
  • Inspection - Road Events - Per Application of $158.10 (GST Exempt)
