Hire a Council Park or Facility

In accordance with the Council's Local Laws, holding an event at a Council public park may require approval. These approvals do not allow the exclusive use of a public park but is in place for public liability and community safety by allowing us to schedule maintenance activities and double-bookings. For example:

  • School / Community Organisation / Work Christmas Parties
  • Athletics Carnivals;
  • Paid Fitness / Sport Activities;
  • Expos and Stall Markets;
  • Community Services Awareness Events;
  • Marriages, Funerals and Memorial Services, Naming and Christening Ceremonies - especially where seating/tables are brought into the park;
  • Festivals and Cultural Ceremonies

Application fees apply to Park Hire applications. This is made up of the fees adopted in the Register of Cost Recovery Fees(PDF, 1MB) and Register of Commercial Charges. For local non-profit and sporting organisations, fees may be included inside a Community Grants application.

In some cases, park hire is not required as it will be low impact or deemed in accordance with the Policy and Local Laws but it's asked that you contact us to check for bookings especially around school / public holidays. For example, these may include:

  • Private barbeques and birthday parties (restrictions apply for jumping castles / amusement activities)
  • Free Exercise / Wellbeing Activities

Parks will include signage of restricted and prohibited activities and must be treated as a public space for recreational purpose.
