Below are programs to help businesses recycle and reduce consumption.

Plastic-Free Places

1S4A1009PFP_credit_©willowcreative_.jpg Many hospitality businesses are using more plastic than they think. Grow your customer base and build your reputation with the help of the Plastic-Free Places program.

The program works with hospitality businesses to:

  • Reduce single-use plastic waste and packaging costs
  •  Grow customer loyalty
  •  Save time and effort

Best of all, this Queensland Government-funded program is completely free. To join, click here.

EcoBiz Program

EcoBiz is a free program for small and medium-sized Queensland businesses with less than 200 full time equivalent (FTE) employees. The program provides personalised coaching, training, and tools to help reduce consumption of water and energy, waste, manage your carbon emissions, and improve resource efficiency and sustainability.

Aspire

ASPIRE is a digital tool that supports social business networks. As industries face the challenge of rising waste disposal costs and the pressure to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from excessive landfill, it is neither cost-effective, operationally efficient, nor socially responsible for companies to ignore the end-of-life impacts of unwanted resources.

Free drop-off: Bulk Bags & Sacks

Join Mount Isa City Council’s Circular Economy Initiative!

Mount Isa City Council invites local businesses to participate in the Big Bag Recovery program – a FREE recycling service designed to:

✅ Cut down waste and disposal costs
✅ Enhance your sustainability reputation
✅ Save time with easy drop-off

What Happens to Your Bags?

Instead of heading to landfill, your empty and decontaminated bulk bags and sacks (woven polypropylene & LDPE, from 15kg/l+) will be turning waste into useful products like school seating and water-saving equipment.

Be part of the solution: Sort Right. Recycle Better

  1. Dropped off at: Waste Transfer Station, 150 Jessop Drive, Mount Isa. (Free of charge.)
  2.  Sorted & baled, then sent to Toowoomba.
  3.  Recycled into resin pellets used for community products like school seating and floating covers for water evaporation.
