    Waste Transfer Station

    Council's Waste Transfer Station is designed to make it easier for community to sort and separate materials.

    The following items can be left in the designated areas at the Mount Isa City Council landfill for recycling:

    • Green Waste
    • All type of cables

     

    Please note: we do not accept the following items at the Mount Isa Waste Management Facility:

    • Liquid waste
    • Gas bottles
    • Fire extinguishers

    Materials Recovery Facility

    Mount Isa City Council is proud to operate a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), located within the city’s Waste Management Facility. This facility has been fully operational since March 2025 and represents a significant step forward in our commitment to sustainable waste management.

    Following Mount Isa City Council’s annual review of fees and charges, changes to the Refuse Facility/Waste Management fees will come into effect as of Tuesday 1 July 2026 as shown below:
