New Acting CEO Appointed for Council

Tim Rose

Mount Isa City Council will be welcoming Tim Rose as its Acting Chief Executive Officer in early July, with current CEO Dale Dickson leaving the organisation for new opportunities.

Mr Rose is a former CEO of Local Buy Pty Ltd, Burnett Shire Council and Bowen Shire Council, as well as a former acting CEO of Diamantina Shire, Mapoon Aboriginal Shire, and Quilpie Shire councils.

“I am confident he is a great choice for Mount Isa City Council,” Mr Dickson said.

Mr Rose will assume the role from next week until Council’s July 19 Ordinary Meeting, where Council will determine if Mr Rose continues in the role and, if so, for what period of time.

Mayor Danielle Slade said it’s extremely disappointing to lose such a quality, capable and experienced CEO, and she thanked Mr Dickson for all he’d done at Mount Isa City Council, and for the Mount Isa community, during his tenure, which began in November 2022.

“Dale was the CEO of the City of Gold Coast Council for 18 years and brought with him a strong track record of successfully growing the second-largest council in Queensland,” Cr Slade said.

“Dale has done an exceptional job assisting the Councillors to address the operating deficit of recent years, and in spearheading the development of Council’s 2023-24 Budget.

“While other councils will see large rate increases, this year we have managed to put up a restrained budget that has kept our rate increase low while delivering a small surplus, and we at Council thank him sincerely for that.

“In such a short time, Dale has managed to bring a strong momentum of positive change for our Council.

“It’s certainly a huge loss, but I appreciate Dale’s decision is best for his family and career and I’m just grateful that we had a CEO of his calibre here at Council.

“On behalf of Mount Isa City Council, we all wish Dale the very best going forward and for all of his future endeavours.

“We look forward to having Tim Rose at the helm as Council’s Acting CEO and to working with him on the many exciting projects and initiatives that are in the pipeline at Council.”
