Registrations Still Open for 2020 Sign-On Expo
Local sporting, community and arts clubs and groups are warmly invited to register to take part in the 2020 Sign-On Expo.
Sports-related and complementary businesses, such as physiotherapists, chemists, chiropractors and podiatrists, are also encouraged to take part.
The Expo will be held from 9am to 1pm on Saturday, February 1, at the Buchanan Park Entertainment Centre.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the Expo offered a perfect opportunity for clubs and groups to raise their profile in the community, increase awareness of their events, competitions and activities taking place throughout the year, and boost their membership numbers.
“There are many great and very active sports clubs and community groups in Mount Isa, and this event helps to show people just what’s available in the community and gives them an opportunity to get involved,” Cr McCulloch said.
Councillor Peta MacRae, whose portfolio includes Sport and Recreation, said the Expo is a very popular annual event that draws in hundreds of visitors.
“It gets the year off to a great start for Mount Isa clubs and they really do benefit from the exposure the Expo brings,” Cr MacRae said.
This year’s event will include dance displays, activity zones, and come-and-try activities such as mini hockey, junior lawn bowls and rugby league.
Clubs, businesses or groups that wish to have a demonstration during the event that may be of interest to sporting or community groups are welcome to register their interest, as are those who promote healthy-eating and healthy-cooking practices.
Registrations for a stall at the Expo will close on Wednesday, January 15, at 5pm. The online registration form can be found at https://www.mountisa.qld.gov.au/event-information-and-forms
