Mount Isa City Council is constructing a Materials Resources Facility to support the Landfill Operations, which is expected to commence from November 2024.

The following items can be left in the designated areas at the Mount Isa City Council landfill for recycling:

  • Batteries - wet or dry, including car batteries
  • E-waste - any electrical appliance which normally plugs into a wall
  • Refrigerators/freezers
  • Metal - all types (ferrous and non-ferrous)

Please note: we do not accept the following items at the Mount Isa Waste Management Facility:

  • Liquid waste, including cooking oil and mineral oil
  • Gas bottles
  • Fire extinguishers

Following Mount Isa City Council’s annual review of fees & charges, changes to the Refuse Facility/Waste Management fees will come in to effect as of Friday 1 September 2023 as shown below.

The Waste Management Facility is located at 150 Jessop Drive, Mount Isa, 1.8km from the intersection of Sunset Drive (at the Cemetery) and Enterprise Road.
