The PCYC Mount Isa is the latest recipient of Council's ongoing Casual for a Cause fundraising initiative.

The donation - $171.65 - was presented during Council's March Ordinary Meeting on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.

PCYC Mount Isa Youth Engagement Officer Sergeant Aimee Sewell thanked Council for the contribution and said it would go towards assisting some of the PCYC's programs, such as Chilling in the Park or After Dark, as well as purchasing food and resources.

"Our focus is working with youth development and keeping our community safe through positive engagement," Sergeant Sewell said.

"Our After Dark Program is a diversion program for young people. We offer a venue that’s nice and safe on a Thursday night that they can come and engage with."

Mayor Peta MacRae said the Mount Isa PCYC is a very highly valued organisation in the community that does a lot to help the city's young people.

Casual for a Cause is an initiative where Mount Isa City Council staff in the Administration building wear casual clothes each Friday, and donate money towards that particular month's charity or cause. A different charity, not-for-profit organisation, or cause is chosen each month.
