Marian Radecker and her sister Annette have been on a mission to find artwork made by their Great Grandmother, Pitta Pitta woman, Nora Nathan also known as Kalamarr or Kalboori Youngi . This also includes work from Nora’s mother Linda Craigie (Yunnaburri).

The Pitta Pitta people were very creative through their art forms and helped introduce a weaving stitch into modern day knitting and crocheting.

Nora Nathan has sculptures in museums around Australia including the Royal Historical Society of Queensland (Brisbane), National Museum of Australia (Canberra), and Art Gallery of NSW (Sydney). In the past, Granny Nora's work was displayed in London and New York.

Marian and Annette are working hard to bring Granny Nora and Linda's work home to strengthen community roots, tell their stories, and highlight the incredible Indigenous Art done in the region.

The sisters are working to find more of Granny Nora's and Granny Linda's artwork in addition to finding a way to bring the artefacts home and display them in the region.

The pictures are currently on display at the Mount Isa City Library until Friday.
