Council is pleased to announce the completion of the upgraded public carpark and electric vehicle (EV) charging station at 34 Miles Street, delivering improved parking access and modern charging infrastructure for the region.

The redevelopment was delivered in partnership with the NRMA under the Federal Government’s Driving the Nation program, which is rolling out future-fit EV charging infrastructure across Australia. As outlined in the original project notice, the site has been renewed as a public carpark and an EV charging station to support the Australian EV network.

The completed facility now features a combination of general parking and EV charging options, including:

  • 4 × DC ultra-rapid fast-charging bays, suitable for quick top-ups for travellers and commercial users
  • 6 × AC slow-charging bays, ideal for longer-stay parking and local EV users
  • Additional non-EV general parking spaces, ensuring the site remains accessible to all community members

This project strengthens Mount Isa’s role in Australia’s growing EV network while still supporting everyday parking needs for residents and businesses. The mix of fast and slow charging options ensures the site is practical, flexible, and ready for the future.

Council extends its appreciation to nearby residents and businesses for their patience during construction.

The carpark and charging station are now fully operational and open for public use.
