The Mount Isa City Library will join with thousands of libraries, schools, pre-schools and childcare centres from all across Australia in simultaneously reading bestselling children's book "The Truck Cat", by award-winning Australian author Deborah Frenkel.

It will be read by guest reader Mount Isa Mayor Peta MacRae.

Snacks will be provided. Come along and join in on all the fun!

"The Truck Cat" is a story about cats and humans, immigration and identity, and homes lost and found.

Along with his human, Yacoub, Tinka travels roads wide and narrow, near and distant. But no matter how much they travel, home feels very far away – for both of them. When Tinka and Yacoub are unexpectedly separated, they are determined to find their way back to each other – and, in doing so, might find more than they expected.

National Simultaneous Storytime is an annual event organised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). More than 2.3 million children from over 20,000 locations across Australia took part in the event in 2024.
