Local Studies

The Local Studies Collection in Mount Isa City Library includes microfilmed local newspapers from 1930-2020, printed materials about Mount Isa, photos, videos, oral history interviews, local authors' publications, and objects.

The physical items are located in the Historical Room, which can be accessed through booking. Bookings can be made via phone call or email.

The Library has an online platform to showcase some of the photos, videos, oral history interviews, and publications in the Local Studies Collection.

Most of the Local Studies collection items are donated. The Library is doing its best to preserve and make them accessible to the public. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you want to share anything with the public, whether the real items or just in digital form. This includes oral history. If you would like to share your own stories of Mount Isa, whether you are living in Mount Isa or not, we would like to interview you.
