Survey to Assist With Planning Future Council Events

Community Events Survey

Published: 18th July 2020

As the community begins to enter a post-COVID-19 period, Council is seeking feedback from local residents about Council events and activities to assist with future planning.

The survey asks people which Council events they are interested in participating in or have attended recently, their event type preferences (e.g., shows, expos, markets or outdoor concerts), what sort of events they would like to see more of in the future, and even if they would like more social options for opportunities to meet and speak with Mount Isa councillors.

The survey can be accessed at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/356Z9ZF

Councillor Peta MacRae, who looks after the Events portfolio, said Council wanted to get a better idea as to what sort of events best suited the community going forward.

“COVID-19 has caused significant disruptions and turned a lot of things on their head, particularly when it comes to Council events, almost all of which we unfortunately have had to cancel this year,” Cr MacRae said.

“But the situation has been improving in our State, and the Queensland Government has now approved COVID Safe Plans for events which we will need to adhere to.

“The requirements of the plans mean that we will have to make some major changes to events for the foreseeable future, but we are still committed to providing a range of fun and exciting events for locals and visitors.

“So, we have put together the survey to find out what sort of events people have gone to, what they’ve enjoyed, and what they would like more of.

“We will be taking the community feedback and information on board for the planning of future events, so I definitely encourage people to fill out the survey.

“We’re looking forward to the Mount Isa 100 Years Celebration in 2023 as well, so if you have any ideas about what you would like to see happen for that, jump on our website and fill out the survey we have for that – you can find the link at www.mountisa.qld.gov.au/community-council-events.”
