Free First Aid Training Courses on Offer for Not-For-Profit Groups

Free First Aid Training

Published: 17th July 2020

Council is providing the opportunity for representatives of not-for-profit organisations and groups in Mount Isa to receive free First Aid training, thanks to funding assistance from the Get Ready Queensland initiative.

Interested organisations are being urged to complete the Council survey at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XFFYC2X in order for up to two of their representatives to be eligible to undertake the training.

The training will be provided by Mount Isa businesses Martyr Training Services and Krause Health and Safety, with participants asked to book their slot with their chosen service provider within two months of receiving confirmation of their eligibility from Council.

The First Aid courses – HLTAID001 Perform CPR, and HLTAID003 Provide First Aid – are pre-paid and can be redeemed until February 28, 2021, at a date and time of the applicant’s choosing and in accordance with the service provider’s course schedule.

Applicants must be a representative of a registered local not-for-profit group or organisation and have received prior approval from the organisation’s president.

Mayor Danielle Slade said the free courses would be of great benefit to those organisations that may not have any members who have First Aid training, or that have members who need to refresh their First Aid knowledge.

“I have completed many First Aid courses over the years, and I know from personal experience how important it is to have someone who knows how to administer CPR – they can literally save a life,” Cr Slade said.

“This is a great initiative that I strongly encourage local not-for-profit groups or organisations to apply for.”
