Official Welcome for Mount Isa’s New Bubs

Welcoming Babies Day 2020

Published: 21st January 2020

The littlest and newest members of the Mount Isa community will be officially welcomed at Council’s Welcoming Babies Day in March, and all 0- to 12-month-olds and their families are warmly invited to attend.

This year’s Welcoming Babies Day will be held on Tuesday, March 17, from 10am to 12 noon at the Civic Centre and will have a Teddy Bears’ Picnic and St Patrick’s Day theme. Families are encouraged to bring along a blanket to sit on, as well a favourite teddy bear.

Now in its 13th year, the annual event sees families and their bubs enjoy an engaging, social morning that also includes information displays, giveaways, a delicious morning tea, music, and a chance to have a beautiful photo taken of them to remember the experience by.

The family of each baby will also receive a personalised certificate that officially welcomes their child as a citizen of Mount Isa.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch said she looks forward to meeting Mount Isa’s new bubs and their families.

“As a mum, I appreciate how much parenthood is such a significant milestone in many people’s lives,” Cr McCulloch said.

“It’s always heart-warming to see so many families enjoying the relaxed, social and friendly atmosphere of our Welcoming Babies Day each year.”

Local mum Courtney Heal, whose first baby, Franklin, is five months old, said she and a group of mums will be sure to attend the event.

“We’ve got a great little group going, so we’ll probably all go together – this will be my first Welcoming Babies Day,” Mrs Heal said.
