Expressions of Interest for Miners’ Memorial Advisory Committee

Published: 16th June 2021

Mount Isa residents who are interested in joining an advisory committee focused on the development of a miners’ memorial in the city are being encouraged to put forward their expressions of interest.

The Miners’ Memorial Advisory Committee aims to give representatives from the community, government and businesses the opportunity to provide advice and feedback to Council on matters relevant to the proposed Miners’ Memorial.

The memorial is anticipated to be unveiled in 2023, during Mount Isa’s centenary year celebrations.

The committee will assist Council by providing guidance on infrastructure, events, and funding opportunities which are complementary to the celebration.

Committee members’ roles will include:

  • Planning and policy development;
  • Strategic program reviews;
  • Facilitation of partnerships, community, and user-participation programs; and
  • Provision of support to specific project working groups established by Council from time to time.

The committee’s Terms of Reference can be viewed by going to www.mountisa.qld.gov.au/monuments-statues/mount-isa-miners-memorial/1.
