Council has highlighted the liveability and recreation opportunities in Mount Isa through a new promotional video, as part of Council’s City of Opportunity marketing campaign.

The new video features interviews with Mayor Danielle Slade; ibis Styles Mount Isa General Manager Jessica James; local Indigenous artist Glenda McCullough; local residents Steven Robinson and Sam Jones; and North West Hospital and Health Service Executive Director Dr Karen Murphy. The video can be viewed by going to https://youtu.be/M0sQ-tP8YD8.

The video was shot last year to put a spotlight on the various sports and recreation activities and local attractions on offer in Mount Isa – such as water sports and picnicking at Lake Moondarra, dirtbike riding, horseback riding, the Riversleigh Fossil Discovery Centre and Outback at Isa, Splashez Aquatic Centre, and the Mount Isa City Library.

The video will be cut into a series of ads for local and coastal TV stations, as well as local cinema advertising, to encourage people to consider a move out west and will be broadcast in the coming weeks.

In the video, Cr Slade says: “As much as I love the metropolitan areas and I love holidaying in different locations, I love living here. It has a lot to offer.

“People are very friendly, and you don’t have to know people for people to come up and have a chat with you.

“Any person that has grown up in Mount Isa will tell you that it’s the people that make you stay in Mount Isa. I encourage you to come and visit Mount Isa and bring your family, because it is the City of Opportunity.”

The ad is part of Council’s commitment to encourage regional recruitment to fill a number of job shortages in the Outback and North West Queensland.
