Mount Isa’s Anzac Day events and activities are fast approaching, and people who would like to take part are being encouraged to register their attendance now for contact-tracing purposes.

Council is assisting the Mount Isa RSL Sub-branch to facilitate the event on Sunday, April 25, which will include a Dawn Service at 6am at the Cenotaph on the front lawn of the Civic Centre, followed by a Gunfire Breakfast in the Civic Centre’s auditorium. The Anzac Day Parade is from 9.30am, and a Morning Service will be held at the Cenotaph from 10am.

Those who are interested in being a parade participant, or attending the Gunfire Breakfast, are encouraged to put their names down by filling out the relevant registration form.

The forms can be found by going to www.mountisa.qld.gov.au/events and clicking on the “Anzac Day 2021 Services and Parade” link.

There people will be able to find the Anzac Day Parade route map, which also includes information about the road closures planned for that morning. Between 9am and 10am, West Street between Isa Street and Grace Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the parade, while a section of West Street will be closed to traffic between 5am and 12 noon for the safety of spectators and participants in the services and parade.

Both services will be livestreamed on Council’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/mountisacitycouncil

Please note that no contact tracing is required for spectators of either the parade or services.

People are encouraged to practice social distancing and to not attend if they are feeling unwell or have been in contact with COVID-19 or a declared hotspot.
