As part of the Mount Isa City Council's ongoing commitment to public facilities and safety, an extensive paved bikeway and footpath network covering 14.4 Ha (or 4.3 km) links all parts of the City with focal points such as the Central Business District and schools.
Effective as of 1 January 2015, a few cycling road rules were updated by the Department of Transport and Main Roads. Download the factsheet.
These rules include the following:
- You can ride across zebra crossings, but make sure you stop and it's safe to do so first
- It will be optional to ride in a bicycle lane
- You can now ride on a single lane roundabout like any other road user
