Council provides a domestic service twice weekly of 240L wheelie bin size. Service alternates around Mount Isa but may change due to Public Holidays.
Check Garbage Route for when garbage is collected in your area. Note: Mobile Garbage Bins should be placed on footpath by 7:00am on your day of service.

MGB (Mobile Garbage Bin) / Wheelie Bins
Council supplies a wheelie bin to any residential property when constructed. This bin remains with the property as part of the garbage service supplied by Council and is responspibility of the owner/occupant of the property.
If a bin is stolen or misplaced, please notify Council by completing the Wheelie Bin Replacement form along with your payment, or by phoning Council on 4747 3200 to arrange for replacement. If a bin is damaged please complete a Wheelie Bin Repair form
Please note that fees apply for the replacement of stolen or misplaced bins.
To ensure that your mobile garbage bin is serviced, please follow the procedures listed below:

Bins should be placed on footpath by 7:00am on the collection day.

Place your mobile garbage bin close to the kerb.

Keep mobile garbage clear from obstructions (ie. car, tree, pole).

Your mobile garbage bin should be placed square to the footpath.

Have your mobile garbage bin facing the right way (ie. wheels facing the house).

The mobile garbage bin should not exceed 70kg in weight.

Do not overfill your mobile garbage bin. (A mobile garbage bin is overfull when the lid will not close, damage may occur during operations).

At a premises where there is more than one mobile garbage bin, they must be spaced at least one (1) metre apart.

Dirt, vacuum cleaner or other dust and grass clippings are to be bagged.

Sharp items, such as broken glass must be securely contained or wrapped to prevent injury.

Needles and syringes must not be included in garbage, but must be placed in a rigid walled container. Please contact the Mount Isa City Council Sanitation Department for further information.

Live ammunition, Liquid Waste (eg. Paints, Thinners & Oils) and hot / smouldering materials must not be included in garbage. Please contact the Mount Isa City Council Sanitation Department for advice regarding disposal.

8:00am - 5:00pm Monday to Friday 8:00am - 6:00pm Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays
Entry charges apply to all vehicles 2 tonne and over and also for the dumping of Car Bodies and the use of the Burial Trench. For further information, please contact the Sanitation Department on 4747 3360.
