Q. How big does my block have to be to be subdivided?
A. To subdivide your block (reconfigure) you must be able to form parcels of the sizes listed theTable 5.19.3.1 /minimum area and road frontage of lots which can be found on page 103 of the City of Mount Isa Planning Scheme. For example, the minimum area for a residential allotment is 700m2, therefore, to form two parcels of 700m2 the parcel must be 1400m2 minimum.

Q. How do I Strata title (Community Title Management Scheme)?
A. To Strata title a property you must first engage a surveyor and a solicitor who will be able to explain the methods and requirements of undertaking a community title management scheme.
Q. If I have an existing shed, can I build a new shed in it’s place?
A. Depending on the current use and existing buildings on the site, you may need to undertake some further applications. It is recommended that you contact Mount Isa City Council or a building certifier to discuss this further.
Q. How long does an application take?
A. This will depend on the type of application, the extent of works and the requirements of other Queensland Governement agencies. The typical timeframe for a unit development application is approximately 3 months.
