Water Mains to be Upgraded on Section of Camooweal Street
Council wishes to advise that a major project to upgrade water mains on Camooweal Street between Mary Street and May Street will begin on Monday, April 8.
The replacement of water mains is a city-wide, long-term initiative that will allow for better distribution and flow of this precious resource.
Approximately 10 properties may be affected at times throughout the dates between April 8 and 26, between the hours of 8.30am and 2.30pm.
Council will endeavour to minimise disruption to all affected properties.
On the first two days of the work (April 8 and 9), water will be isolated between 8.30am and 2.30pm. Council work crews will notify all residents when and where other shutdowns are expected to last for longer than two hours.
However, it is unlikely that properties will experience loss of water for the full duration of these hours, with the exception of two to three of these days, where residents will be notified when this work will be carried out and conditions of all aspects of the work will be taken into consideration prior to commencement.
While work crews will ensure that all lines are cleaned prior to reconnection, after water disruption, properties may experience short-term low pressure or slight water discolouration. If anyone experiences any such discolouration, it is recommended that the tap be run for a short period of time for this to clear.
Council apologises in advance for any inconvenience caused and will ensure disruptions are kept to a minimum.
It is suggested that all residents fill drinking water containers for pets and their own household use in the case of an unscheduled shutdown.
