Waste Levy Information Session for Businesses

An information session will be held next week to help businesses better understand the Queensland Government waste levy.


The Queensland Government levy will take effect from 1 July 2019.


Mayor Joyce McCulloch said local businesses were encouraged to attend and learn more about how the State Government levy could affect them.


“The information session is a great way for local businesses to get an overview of the Queensland Government waste levy,” Cr McCulloch said.


“Topics for discussion will include the impacts for businesses, tips on how to reduce ‘levy liability’ and how the waste levy will impact the methodology of fees being introduced at our local waste facilities.”


The information session will be held from 6.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday 20 June at the Mount Isa Civic Centre.


A representative of the Queensland Department of Environment and Science will be in attendance and will be available to answer questions people may have about the waste levy.

A personal letter of invitation has been sent to all businesses with an active account at the Waste Management Facility.
