Upgrades to Mount Isa City Council Fleet - 1st August 2016
Mount Isa City Council’s road operations have received an efficiency boost with the purchase of three new graders and a skid steer loader to replace ageing machinery.
Totalling almost $800,000, the Hastings Deering purchases not only support local businesses but also signify Council’s strong commitment and confidence in the development and sustainability of the local business community and economy.
Mount Isa City Council CEO Emilio Cianetti said the 232D series skid steer loader boasted a 67 hp engine and built in antitheft security system and provided an opportunity for the upsizing of part of Council’s fleet in preparation for a busy road and restoration services and construction program.
“The new CAT 140M GC graders which are powered by VHP Plus Range motors boasting 183 to 233 horse power and equipped with the most modern technology include grade control and machine monitoring systems to improve grading efficiency and enhance fleet management and utilization which is an integral part of the plan to create a sustainable fleet”,” Mr Cianetti said.
“Council aims to upgrade our aging machinery and provide highly productive and effective services.
“With a road network that spans 1800km, Council’s graders are always in high demand working on road maintenance, improvement and rehabilitation.”
