Splashez Upgrade Update 130818
Although the weather remains chilly, there are some committed swimmers ready to dive back into the pool, and their opportunity is only weeks away.
The facility was closed on July 16 in order to do some necessary maintenance and exciting upgrades, including refurbished amenities blocks, entry and kiosk area, retiling, disability access lifts, and barbecue facilities.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said leak detecting had been given priority for the past few weeks, and this week will see the beginning of some demolition and extensive upgrade work.
“While we still have a few weeks of repairs and upgrades ahead of us, we are excited about the upgrades, the extent of which hasn’t happened since 2000,” Cr McCulloch said.
“These upgrades will benefit many community members and users of the facility and I thank the community for being patient with us while it happens.
“It made sense for us to do it in winter when user numbers are at their lowest. But we are focused on getting our patrons back in the pool as soon as possible.”
An initial five weeks for repairs and upgrades was communicated to the community, which should see the pool reopen late August. Updates will be given though local news, council website and social media.
