Splashez the Place to be on Australia Day

Splashez Aquatic Centre will be the place to be on Australia Day, with a pool party, official reopening festivities and a Dive-In Movie promising a full day of fun and activities for locals.

Splashez will be open from 10.30am to 4pm on Australia Day, with usual entry fees to apply.

However, from 4pm to 7pm, entry to the facility will be free for the Australia Day pool party, with people encouraged to come along for an afternoon of music, fun, games, a free sausage sizzle and the cutting of the Australia Day cake. The free barbecue facilities at Splashez will also be available for use during the afternoon.

The pool party will run until 6pm, with the big pool to close at 6.30pm in preparation for the event moving to the toddler pool for the Dive-In Movie, which will begin at 7.30pm with the animated favourite, “Sing”, shown on a big screen until about 9.30pm.

There will be chairs and poolside viewing areas for non-swimming partygoers, with those swimming urged to only bring plain pool rings, for safety reasons.

The opening hours for Splashez will be slightly different on Sunday, January 27, and Monday, January 28, due to the Australia Day activities.

On Sunday, the facility will be open from 10.30am to 7pm, while on the Monday public holiday it will be open from 10.30am to 5.30pm. Normal operating hours will resume from Tuesday, January 29.

The presentation of the 2019 Australia Day Awards and a citizenship ceremony will be held at the Civic Centre on West Street from 9am on Saturday. A free morning tea will be provided.
