Splashez Aquatic Centre Update - 6th October 2016

Splashez Aquatic Centre Update

Mount Isa City Council is currently moving towards securing a new lessee for Splashez Aquatic Centre.

After former lessees Mount Isa Aquatics and Council agreed that a new management tender was in the best interest of the facility, advertising began to seek a new lessee.

In the interim, Council was able to secure the services of Royal Queensland Life Saving Association to manage the pool and minimise any closure period.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the facility was being managed superbly by the Life Saving Association, and there were plans to continue the relationship and offer their courses into the future pending discussions with new lessees.

“The community feedback regarding the pool this season has been excellent, and we are so pleased with the way things are progressing,” Cr McCulloch said.

“We’ve had a number of lessee applications and discussions are taking place with the suitable candidates.

“We are hopeful that we will have a new lessee in place soon that can offer the community the professional services they expect from their community pool facility and we look forward to providing full details in the near future.”

The pool is currently open every day from 5.30am to 7.30pm.
