Something For Everyone at 2019 Sign-On Expo
Saturday’s Sign-On Expo promises to offer something for everyone in the community, with a record number of information stalls, and lots of fun, interactive displays.
The Expo will be held from 9am to 1pm at the Buchanan Park Entertainment Centre.
Councillor Peta MacRae, whose portfolio includes Sport, says more than 60 organisations, clubs, sporting clubs and community groups have registered to take part in this year’s Expo, which is a record number and almost twice as big as last year’s event.
“The interest shown by local groups to participate in the Expo has been amazing, and I thank them for taking part in the event,” Cr MacRae said.
“The Expo is the perfect opportunity for locals and people new to town to discover what wonderful community, not-for-profit and sporting groups are available in Mount Isa, as well as what they do and offer, and to join them to participate in the hundreds of events, games, activities and competitions they organise each and every year.
“I urge everyone to pop down to the Entertainment Centre on Saturday morning and make the most of the Expo – whether you volunteer your time, take part in a hobby or recreational activity, or play a sport, you are sure to find something that will interest you.”
The Expo will also feature two food stalls and a chill-out coffee lounge area in the middle of the Entertainment Centre where people can sit down, relax over a cuppa and catch up with friends.
There will also be lots of great demonstrations and interactive activities, such as exercise classes from a local physio, displays from the Mount Isa School of Dance and Highland Dancers, sewing demonstrations from the Mount Isa Quilters Group, posture photos taken by a chiropractor, and Play-Doh and activity tables for the kids.
