Sign up for Free First Aid course!

Mount Isa “Gets Ready” for emergencies

Beginning Monday November 7, Mount Isa residents will have the opportunity to sign up for $10,000 worth of free first aid courses.

Mount Isa City Council and the Queensland Government’s RACQ Get Ready campaign have made 60 places available for fully accredited two-day first aid courses, run at Krause Health and Safety in December.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch said Council acknowledged the benefits of having as many community members as possible trained in the latest first aid techniques as bushfire and flooding events continued to occur in Mount Isa.

“If our community is prepared then we will be able to recover more quickly if we are faced with a disaster,” Cr McCulloch said.

“We are very grateful to the State Government for these funds which help Council educate our residents about disaster events and build resilience in our community.”

Three courses dates will be offered over weekdays and weekends, and a $50 deposit will be required to secure places, refunded on course completion.

Course registration and information will be available on the Mount Isa City Council website, or at the Customer Service counter, 23 West Street, or by phoning council on 47473200.
