Register now for Great Northern Clean Up - 16th September 2016

Great Northern Clean Up sites for 2016 have now been selected and residents are encouraged to get online and register for the October 16 event.

This year the Mount Isa City Council and the Pioneer Fun Day committee have joined forces to provide the official registration point alongside entertainment, market stalls, kids activities, and a free sausage sizzle.

There are currently 10 clean-up sites for Mount Isa including the Lookout hill, Spear Creek, the Junction and the CBD.

With more than 35 tonnes of rubbish collected last year throughout the clean-up operations, which included eight truck tyres and 20 car tyres, Mayor Joyce McCulloch said it was a worthy event that saw community groups, individuals and Council focus on the city’s beautification and environmental respect.

“The Great Northern Clean Up is the perfect opportunity for everyone to come together and help clean up our city and think about how we can reduce our impact on the environment,” Cr McCulloch said.
