Regional Arts Development Funding Round Three Closing Soon
Applications for Round Three of Council’s Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) are closing soon, and Council is calling on all local arts and cultural organisations and groups to apply to help get an event or project off the ground.
Round three opened on April 15, and applications will close on Wednesday, May 15, at 5pm. Funding is for events or projects that will start after June 19, 2019.
Deputy Mayor Phil Barwick said the RADF program has for many years assisted Mount Isa groups to make local cultural or artistic ideas into a reality.
“There are six categories of funding available: Developing regional skills; Building community cultural capacity; Cultural tourism; Contemporary collections/stories; Regional partnerships; and Young people,” Cr Barwick said.
“Within each of these categories is the scope for a wide variety of activities and projects. A RADF grant can cover up to 65 percent of the total project’s costs.
“Previous initiatives that Council’s RADF program has funded have included a Connecting to Culture Workshop run by Kalkutungu Language and Cultural Connections, which gave local kids an invaluable understanding of Indigenous culture, language and song and dance; hip-hop dance workshops by Justice Crew; and workshops by the Mount Isa Irish Dancers and Highland Dancers.
“It’s important that Mount Isa’s artistic and cultural community is kept strong and vibrant, which is why I’m urging groups to submit their funding applications for Council’s latest RADF grants.”
