Mount Isa Superheroes for one day
Mount Isa City councillors, executive staff, and various city professionals will show themselves as true superheroes on Friday May 26 when they dress up to raise money for HeartKids.
Showing his softer side, Council CEO Michael Kitzelmann pledged his support to the cause and has involved the Mayor, executive staff, and members of the police, emergency services, and school principals to take part in Super Boss Day to support research into childhood congenital heart disease.
Mr Kitzelmann said it was well known that Mount Isa was a small city with a big heart and he was determined to get his team on board to make a difference in the community and Australia wide for such an important cause.
“Mount Isa is already excelling in the medical field, with excellent training facilities and highly respected nurses and medical staff, and this is a way that those outside the medical field can contribute and support the good work in this city,” Mr Kitzelmann said.
“There is no greater way to humble yourself in front of your peers and the community than by placing yourself firmly outside of your comfort zone, and raising money for HeartKids is an exceptional reason to do so.”
Mayor Joyce McCulloch said when the CEO proposed the idea, she jumped at the chance to support an innovative and energetic way for Council to make a difference.
“This Council is very supportive of fresh and exciting ideas and ways of doing things, and following the Mayor’s fundraiser for the Children’s Ward at the hospital last year, I am fully committed to raising more funds and awareness for children’s health,” Cr McCulloch said.
