Great Northern Clean Up colouring in competition

Primary school children throughout Mount Isa are encouraged to get involved with this year’s Great Northern Clean Up by entering the Great Northern Clean Up colouring in competition.

Council’s Environmental Compliance Officer Caitlin Pfrunder said she was looking forward to seeing the competition entries this year and was always happy to see the city’s children engaging with important environmental issues in a fun way.

“As part of Council’s ongoing waste awareness program, the school colouring in competition has been delivered to all schools in the city, and kids have been asked to colour in the clean-up scene,” Ms Pfrunder said.

“We find that when they’re doing the activity, they tend to talk about the importance of keeping the environment litter free, so it’s a great learning exercise.”

Entries will be collected from schools on Thursday September 13, and the winners will be announced announced and presented with prizes during the Great Northern Clean Up event at Mount Isa Plaza in Pioneer on Sunday September 16.

First, second and third place will be awarded in two categories, prep to year three, and years four to six.

Colouring in sheets can be downloaded from Council’s Facebook page, website, collected from the Library, or from your school.
