Free microchipping for pound pets this August - 2nd August 2016

Following the success of the Mount Isa City Council and RACQ free pet microchipping day last month, free microchipping will be offered for the first 30 pets adopted from the pound throughout August.

With more than 60 free microchipping vouchers redeemed in last month’s promotion, Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the offer would be extended to the adoption of pound pets, and council would continue to target funding pools to offer incentives for responsible pet ownership.

“Owning a pet is a wonderful experience, but with it comes cost and responsibility,” Cr McCulloch said.

“Council are dedicated to encourage responsible ownership, including having pets registered, desexed and microchipped, and we are delighted to offer assistance where and when we can.”

“Microchipping ensures that if a pet becomes separated from its owner, we are able to reunite them, which is the best possible outcome for everyone.”

The first 30 pets, including dogs, cats, puppies and kittens adopted from the Mount Isa City Council Pound in August will received a voucher for free microchipping.
