Cuddly Teddy Bears’ Picnic for Welcoming Babies Day
You’re in for a big surprise at this year’s annual Welcoming Babies Day, with a Teddy Bears’ Picnic set to delight local new mums and bubs.
To be held on Thursday, March 28 from 10am to 12pm at the Civic Centre, the day is open to all babies born in the past 12 months as well as their families.
Mayor Joyce McCulloch says she is delighted to again host the Welcoming Babies Day, which is now in its 12th year.
“There’s nothing like the joy of parenthood, and as a mum I always look forward to meeting our city’s newest arrivals,” Cr McCulloch said.
“It’s a special event that’s held in honour of local babies and their families, where bubs are officially welcomed as citizens of Mount Isa and parents are given a Welcoming Baby Certificate to remember the occasion by.
“I encourage all new families to register their baby for the morning by filling out the form on our website and either emailing it to email@example.com, or dropping it off at the Customer Services counter at our main administration building on West Street.”
First-time mum Kate Te Wharau, whose son, Archer, was born on New Year’s Eve 2018, said as a new mum, the Welcoming Babies Day was something she would definitely want to go to, as it’s a chance to meet and chat with other mums and see how they’re going.
The day will also include exhibitor displays, giveaways, morning tea and lots of teddy bear fun.
Registrations – for either babies, or those wanting to have an exhibit or display at the event – close at 5pm on Friday, March 22. For more information, call Council on 4747 3200.
