“The racing industry is very important to Mount Isa and a lot of people are heavily invested, both professionally and socially,” Cr McCulloch said.
“Mount Isa City Council and the Mount Isa Race Club have had a troubled relationship in the past, but I am confident that this is all behind us.”
“I look forward to a happy and healthy future for the Mount Isa racing calendar, and this Council will offer our full support.”
Race Club President Dan Ballard said that after recent meetings with the Council he was confident that Council and the Race Club would have a harmonious and mutually beneficial relationship moving forward.
“By opening the lines of communication it will make it easier for us all to work together and I’m excited by the support we have received and I’m confident that we have a good future ahead of us in this community,” Mr Ballard said.
“We have no motive other than to see racing in Mount Isa go from strength to strength and bring greater community awareness about what is happening.”
