Council Congratulates Two Long-Serving Employees at Presentation

Two long-serving Council employees were presented with certificates and gifts for their decades of service, at a special presentation held on the morning of Wednesday, March 27.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch presented Gayle Houston (Development and Land Use Manager) and Kylie Langfield (Waste Management Administration Officer) with their certificates – 20 years of service for Gayle, and 10 years of service for Kylie.

Cr McCulloch congratulated the employees for their service and said they are exemplary and highly-regarded staff members.

“I am very proud of what they deliver for this community,” Cr McCulloch said.

“We all really appreciate the work that they do.”

Gayle is a great mentor and is very approachable to all members of staff and the public. She is always happy to help others and, even with her large workload, always makes time for everyone.

Gayle said she was extremely happy with the team she is currently working with, as well as all of the teams she had worked with before, and thanked them for their hard work.

Gayle has a vast bank of corporate and general knowledge and willingly shares this knowledge and her experience to assist her team and other sections.

She is generous and caring with her staff, not only in relation to work, and takes the time to get to know her staff on a personal level, which has enabled her to establish an excellent team morale and rapport.

Kylie has worked in various roles with Council, starting in the pay office then moving to the training and development role.

Kylie started a new challenge working in Waste Management, where she was integral in setting up the Mandalay weighbridge software system for Council.

“I’ve had a great 10 years at Council and I look forward to another 10 years,” Kylie said.

“I’ve had a lot of opportunities to work in a wide variety of areas and it’s been a pleasure working with everyone.”

For many years Kylie was involved in the employee Christmas Party committee and is a well-liked member of the Council team with both administrative and works-based employees.
