Mount Isa to celebrate Queensland Day this June

Mount Isa City Council will proudly add a brand new event to the community calendar this year with the inclusion of Queensland Day Beef Beach and Beats Community Picnic Day on Sunday June 9.

Made possible by State Government funding, Council was successful in their event pitch, by creating an opportunity for the community to come together for an inclusive event to celebrate the great state of Queensland.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch said Beef Beach and Beats will be held at Buchanan Park Entertainment Centre and will feature a beach volleyball round robin with cash prizes, free beef burgers, beergarden, live entertainment by local band Bulldust, kids sporting activities by Gecko Outdoor Sports, jumping castles and facepainting.

“This event will be a great way to recognise our great state by hosting a huge barbecue, indulging in our love of sports and entertainment, and enjoying the great outdoors this June,” Cr McCulloch said.

“We encourage all local businesses, community and sporting groups, and groups of friends to nominate now for the beach volleyball competition and be in the running to win some cash prizes, $500 for first place and $250 for runner up.”
