$15,000 Presented to Three Local Sporting Clubs
Mayor Joyce McCulloch presented almost $15,000 to three local sporting clubs on Wednesday morning as part of Council’s latest round of Community Grants.
The recipients were:
- Sikaran Martial Arts Inc - $4895 for a security system upgrade. The funds will go toward the purchase of a new and upgraded security system at the club’s Transmission Street dojo, with security cameras to be installed in the dojo’s interior and exterior.
- Mount Isa Hockey Association - $5000 for disability access pathways. Funds will go toward the cost of disability concrete pathways to the new amenities building, which also now has disabled-access amenities.
- Copper City Cycling Club Inc - $5000 for the purchase of a come-and-try clinics trailer. The trailer will be used to host come-and-try clinics to reboot the club for 2019.
Cr McCulloch said she was very pleased that the recipients were able to get the funding amounts they required and applied for, and praised them for submitting excellent applications.
“Our city’s sporting clubs and organisations are run by extremely hardworking volunteers who dedicate many hours every week to their chosen sporting code,” Cr McCulloch said.
“I thank these clubs for everything they do for our community, particularly with promoting and increasing sporting participation amongst people of all ages, and congratulate them for their success in Council’s latest round of Community Grants.”
