Splashez closed for winter maintenance

As the cooler weather sets in, Mount Isa City Council has scheduled its winter maintenance at Splashez Aquatic Centre to begin on Monday July 16.

Mayor Joyce McCulloch said there was work to be done at the facility to identify leaks and repair tiling that required the centre to be shut for a number of weeks.

“While we are always reluctant to shut the facility, these are necessary works which are critical for the upkeep of the pool, and while numbers are down in the cooler weather, it makes sense to do it now,” Cr McCulloch said.

Cr McCulloch said she estimated that Splashez will be closed for a minimum of five weeks to ensure the repairs are completed.

“During its closure, I encourage the community to take advantage of our Family Fun Park and water play features, as well as the Skate Park, both of which have had extensive and impressive upgrades recently.”

Reopening dates will be advertised on Council social media and website. For more information, please phone Council on 47473200.
