Arts and Culture Survey for Mount Isa

Mount Isa City Council is gearing up for some city arts and culture projects and wants to hear your ideas.

In conjunction with the Regional Arts Development fund, which is a partnership between Councils and the Queensland Government, there is an opportunity for Mount Isa to take up some projects and inject more art and culture into the community.

Whether your ideas include street murals, art installations, or interpretive displays, Mayor Joyce McCulloch said the Council would like the community to have a say on what kind of art of cultural displays they would like to see in and around their city.

“We have an opportunity to develop some unique and relevant displays and pieces of art for Mount Isa, and it is something that the community should decide,” she said.

“Public art is about artistic expression, whether reflecting history, a local story or an issue of the time. It adds immeasurably to a community’s sense of place and identity, and we want our residents to connect with the work and let us know what they want to see.”
