Great Northern Clean Up 2018 Great Northern Clean Up 2018

The biggest public clean-up of the year is almost here, and there are plenty of opportunities to get involved.

The official day will be held on Sunday September 16, and will take place in the form of a public clean up registration point and fun day, run by Mount Isa City Council and Smoking Gun Café at Mount Isa Plaza in Pioneer.

The Pioneer event has been well supported in the past few years and a variety of local businesses had come on board to offer support and services.

Although Council invests a significant amount of resources into environmental management each year, we enjoy being able to encourage the community to work alongside Council on this particular day.

It’s great to see the amount of kids and their parents who get involved as a learning exercise, and we are pleased to offer a bit of fun at the end of the hard work by offering a free sausage sizzle and  having the Pioneer Plaza help us out with a fun day.

For anyone that would like to be involved, there are a number of options.

If you would like to nominate your own site, please visit, and you can order clean up kits at the same time, and it will give you the information you need for accessing the tip for free to dispose of you rubbish.

Or, you are welcome to come to the Great Northern Clean Up Fun Day from 7am on Sunday September 16 at Pioneer Mount Isa Plaza and we will have clean up kits for you and recommended areas to begin your clean up.

For more information, please visit, or, or give Council’s Environmental Management team a call on 47473200.
