Gary Asmus

Councillor Gary Asmus

I was born in Mount Isa and have lived here all my life. I have travelled all over the world but not found anywhere I would rather be. Having said that, one of my interests is travelling, but I also like to go camping, I read a lot, and like to work on things in my shed.

I came on board as a Councillor about four and a half years ago, as an opportunity existed to broaden my involvement in the community. As a member of Council, my hopes are to continue consultation with the people of Mount Isa and Camooweal on both a personal and professional basis, as well as furthering the interests of Tourism and Urban Development as opportunities arise.

Networks made with the exposure gained at a local government level are a vital tool used in promoting our city, and I hope to help Council anyway I can, from being involved in a nuts-and-bolts approach, up to anything asked of me in my capacity as a Councillor.

In short, Mount Isa has been very good to me, my family and friends; and I would be less than fulfilled if I didn't give 100% back to the City that has provided so many opportunities for me over the years.

Cheers,
Gary Asmus.
