Mount Isa welcomes approximately 200 new citizens to take the Pledge of Commitment every year.

I have received my letter of approval. When can I attend a ceremony?
Once your application has been approved and you have received your letter of approval you will be assigned to a future citizenship ceremony by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Your ceremony date will generally be 3-6 months after your application is approved. The Mount Isa City Council conducts qaurterly Citizenship Ceremonies. You will receive a written invitation approximately 4-6 weeks prior to your ceremony.

Ceremonies are generally held at the Mount Isa Civic Centre, 23 West Street and take about 40 minutes with time for photo opportunities at the end of the ceremony. We request that you arrive 30 minutes prior to the ceremony start time.
What to wear?
Smart attire is requested or candidates are most welcome to wear their traditional costume and yes you may bring guests.
What to bring?
You will need to bring a passport or Australian Driver’s license with you. If you are taking Pledge 1 (under God), you are welcome to bring a holy book of your choice to make your Pledge on.
